Gundar Peterson, PE, Named DBS&A President

Gundar Peterson, PE, DBS&A PresidentGundar Peterson, PE, has been appointed to the position of President of DBS&A. Mr. Peterson takes over the reins from James Kelsey, PG, who has served as DBS&A President since 2015.  Mr. Kelsey will continue to support DBS&A projects and clients while also serving as a Senior Vice President of DBS&A’s parent organization, Geo-Logic Associates (GLA).

Mr. Peterson has 28 years of professional experience in the environmental industry—20 at DBS&A—specializing in environmental assessment, investigation, and remediation at hazardous waste sites; landfill permitting and design; surface water runoff; and erosion protection. He is a licensed professional engineer in eight states: Arizona, Idaho, Illinois, Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, Washington.

Mr. Peterson has managed DBS&A’s Albuquerque office for two years and has provided technical expertise and senior oversight on dozens of projects across all of DBS&A’s markets and services. His experience includes remedial design and remedial action at contaminated sites, and engineering support for water resources development projects and solid waste clients throughout the western US.

Mr. Peterson also serves as the National Director of the American Council of Engineering Companies New Mexico (ACEC New Mexico) and is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He is a Vice President of DBS&A’s parent company, GLA.

Thanks to Mr. Kelsey’s leadership, Mr. Peterson stands to build upon a solid foundation toward continued growth, geographic diversity, and ability to tackle greater technical challenges on behalf of our clients.

Legacy of James Kelsey, PG, Past President

Mr. Kelsey’s career at DBS&A began in 1992, working as a research and development scientist in DBS&A’s Soil Testing and Research Laboratory. For more than 33 years, he has served DBS&A in positions of increasing responsibility, eventually becoming the organization’s president.

Under Mr. Kelsey’s leadership, the DBS&A team has grown to more than 100, including Hydrologists/Hydrogeologists, Geologists, Engineers, Biologists, GIS/Database Specialists, and Technicians, throughout 9 offices in 5 states. He also led the company’s successful integration with our parent company, GLA, providing significant growth opportunities for DBS&A employees and a nationwide portfolio of project work.
